This is Kay’s partner Daniel:

Kay has died from their illness. I am grateful for how much support you all have offered since they first made their cancer diagnosis public and I know Kay was grateful also. It is clear that their energy, creativity, and care for others made an impact on everyone who met them.

This is Kay’s friend Graham:

I will be continuing to post Kay’s remaining pages of Adventures of Blisterfish, starting Friday. I’m sorry for letting a month go by without update. Kay’s death was difficult for all of us. Following that, I’ll be posting pages drawn by me. I decided this was the best gift I could offer Kay when they learned they were likely going to die back in September. When they informed me, I offered to take over on Blisterfish if they did not survive their illness. This story was their opus. Some people are born with a singular story in their hearts which they refine through their lived experience, and this was Kay’s. I’ve known them since childhood, and I remember hearing them talk about and draw these characters even back in high school. In their honor, I’ll continue to draw it for as long as I can. Of course, it won’t be exactly the thing it would have been had they lived to draw it all themselves, but I think they knew this and were okay with it.

Once I’ve posted Kay’s pages, which comprise the rest of this chapter, I’ll be posting pages drawn by me based on their thumbnails. After working through all the pages Kay thumbnailed, Daniel and I will continue writing the comic in the way we believe they would have wanted it written, and I will continue to draw it. Kay talked extensively with me in their last couple months about their plans for the comic and the characters. I’d like to give the story the treatment it deserves. I’m not sure yet what this will mean in terms of update schedule. I’d like to continue to post a page or two every week, but I might only be able to manage every other week. I’ll keep you updated as I work on the next chapter.
